Our organizational chart is upside down. It reflects our belief that the customer is on top and those that are below support those people above them. Dugan & Lopatka has eighteen accountants and CPA team members, six para-professional and support team members, and seven principals. We also have ten technology professionals and one registered financial consultant for a total team of 42 people.

MICHAEL J. DUGAN

Mike Dugan is the founder of the firm. He specializes in financial consulting and business planning for privately-held companies, business acquisitions and computer consulting. Mike is a 1971 graduate of the University of Illinois, and was affiliated with Arthur Andersen & Co. before he had "an entrepreneurial seizure" and started the practice.

JERRY L. LOPATKA (View Jerry's Personal Brochure)

Jerry Lopatka is the Managing Principal. He specializes in business tax planning for privately-held companies and he has extensive experience in the areas of estate planning, trusts, gifting, succession and individual tax planning. Jerry is a 1975 graduate of Elmhurst College and has a Master of Science in Taxation degree from DePaul University, Graduate School of Business.

GWEN S. HENRY

Gwen Henry is a Principal in the firm's Controllership and Consulting Services practice. She specializes in financial consulting and tax and organizational planning for privately-held companies and nonprofit organizations. Gwen is also Co-Chairperson of the firm's Nonprofit Services Group. Gwen is a graduate of the University of Kansas and has done additional studies in personal financial planning and taxation. Gwen is active on the boards of many community organizations including the DuPage Forest Preserve Board.

MARK F. SCHULTZ (View Mark's Personal Brochure)

Mark Schultz is the Principal responsible for the firm's Audit and Review Services. He specializes in the areas of accounting systems, internal controls and financial reporting for privately-held companies and nonprofit organizations. He is also the Co-Chairperson of the firm's Nonprofit Services Group. Mark is a 1977 graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University and has a Master of Business Administration degree from Norhern Illinois University, Graduate School of Business.

PETER J. ZICH

Pete Zich is a Principal and is in charge of the firm's Tax Services practice. He specializes in tax planning and business valuations and has extensive experience in multistate and international tax strategies. Pete is a 1986 graduate of the University of Illinois and was previously affiliated with Arthur Andersen & Co.

Leo Misdom is a Principal and is in charge of the firm's Controllership and Consulting Services practice. He specializes in tax and business planning for closely-held companies and financial planning for individuals. He also has extensive experience helping businesses increase their revenue. Leo is a 1983 graduate of Illinois State University.

Brett Flickinger is a Principal and the firm's Director of Marketing. In addition to helping the firm grow, he specializes in business development, marketing and web site design for closely-held businesses and nonprofit organizations. Brett is a 1988 graduate of the University of Kansas and has a Master in International Management degree in International Marketing from the American Graduate School of International Management, better known as Thunderbird.
