Developing A Marketing Plan

The key to writing an effective marketing plan is disciplined marketing planning. Disciplined marketing planning is a sequential, interlocking, step-by-step decision and action process.

Disciplined marketing has two major components.  The first, Marketing/Organization Review, is a comprehensive analysis of the marketplace and your nonprofit's approach to the community/market.  The second major component is the marketing plan itself, which is developed from the information gathered and analyzed in the Marketing/Organization Review.

We help nonprofits understand what marketing can do for the organization and its mission.

We help get you focused on your customers (the people or purpose your organization serves) and their needs.

Together we will outline a plan.

Our Approach:

  • Collect marketing background information and conduct a Marketing/Organization Review if required to gather information for decision making.
  • Identify opportunities and problems from the marketing data collected.
  • Outline goals (revenue, publicity, views of stakeholders).
  • Determine target markets.
  • Outline marketing objectives and strategies.
  • Develop a positioning strategy and USP.
  • Outline the marketing mix of tools for implementation.
  • Develop the marketing plan budget and calendar.
  • Monitor execution
  • Review and evaluate results and programs.
